I've now finished soldering a dual VCO, a VCF/VCA, a simplified
routing/FM board, an LPT interface, and a system DAC; after I build a
S&H board I'll have a whole voice soldered (plus I still have a voice on
the breadboard). Designing the layout and building these is going
slowly; I need to take a month or two off work, so I can devote time to
my "hobby"!
Made lots of progress on the software too - now it reads hardware config
and software patch files, and has a fixed number of software Envs, Lfos,
and mod matrix choices, plus portamento. It doesn't save files yet -
the hardware and software files have to be edited with a text editor
before starting the program - but patch parameters can be changed while
the program runs. I haven't added many MIDI features yet - just
receives on channel 1 and only responds to note-on velocity and mod
wheel. For the moment it's back to monophonic-only, but I'll be
enabling the polyphonic mode again soon.
Doing this gives me even more respect than I already have for you list
members, seeing just how much work it is to design and build a whole
synth setup.
