[sdiy] physical modelling

Lemme see if I have this right....

we take an analog signal...

input it into a digital model of a tube BBD...

then take the output and convert it back into analog...

EUREKA !!! That'll really WORK !!!

(otoh that would be a digital delay... what I've been hawking all along.... ;^)

If you get homesick... you could sum in some pseudo-random noise from
a shift register, and then limit the output to about seven bits... to get an
"authentic" sound. ;^P

(I don't know... I remember hearing the BBD units that are now considered
"classics" for the first time... and saying to myself "who would by this shitty
sounding unit at THIS price". I also remember hearing a Delta-Lab 512
millisecond digital delay (before the effectron days)... it cost as much as a
good four channel reel to reel. A friend convinced me to buy the reel to reel...
I'm sorry I did. The tape machine is gone but the DDL would live on !!!)

Disclaimer: I am not against DIY of any type... so enjoy what you enjoy.
I think BBD's don't give enough return for the effort... or require too much
effort for the return... as you like it.

Tubes are cool with me. I used to love them at the beach. they were a lot
of fun....
