[sdiy] Analog Delay Lines (was) [common acronyms?]

A really, really long piece of wire.  :)  Sorry, I could not resist because
a guitar player friend of mine in the 70s asked me how much wire he would
need coiled up in the bottom of his speaker cabinet for such a delay.  There
"might: have been some recreational drugs involved.

Outside of mechanical (tape delay) are there any other practical techniques
to implement analog delay lines?
