I'll probably use your components for quick & dirty stuff :)

When my only computer was a Atari I used megapaint
to draw schematics, results looked really well.
For the PCBs I used Calamus, a DTP program.
Just put up a (magnetic) grit of 0.05 inch.
Next you can draw line objects on the grit.
Thick short lines for the pads and thinner ones for the traces.
Because this all are objects, moving footprints or traces around  is no prob
:)
Made a memory extension for my D50 this way among other things.
The results looked just like it was done in orcad/ultiboard on the PC.

The only other option on Atari was Eagle, which didn't have a netlist
feature at the time. So it didn't have any advantage over the
Megapaint + Calamus method.
But while ok as a work around I would not like to part with netlists,
design rule check, nested sheets and the option to have a PCB house do my
boards.
