Kevin,

I think that there is benefit for musicians to understand the technology
that they work with. Eventually music will appear in your mind and the only
way to realize that sound is with custom hardware. You need to understand
what is possible and how to get there. Anything is possible.

In the early days of analog synthesizers there was usually a close
collaboration between musician and engineer; Subotnick and Buchla, Carlos
and Moog. You might want to consider collaboration with a nearby engineer.
