[sdiy] old power supply

So I've been cleaning out my closet, and I have
several old computer cases with power supplies in
them.  Would it be alright to use one of these to
power some modules, or am I better off building a
power supply kit?  I'm thinking I could get a few
effects modules to complement my newly finished
fatman.
