[sdiy] Chaining sequencers

Can someone describe the ways sequencers of identical makes are chained
together to attain effectively longer sequences?  (signals, timing, etc)

I'm thinking there are many different methods but I'll bet one or two
methods have emerged as the most popular and requiring the fewest cables.
