AW: [sdiy] Anyone ever build a sampler?

Oh man, these were the days...
D**pf*r 8 bit sampler and there was also a c't magazin
project, which used an Apple II for control.
I had no money, just finished my A-level, heading towards
University...
Later on I got a "Galactic" 8 bit Sampler for the ATARI STE,
I still have it and I'm sure I'll use it again.
Sometimes this expansion card gets stucked, I could never figure
out why, I assume it has to do with input overdrive
and latch up. The funny thing is that even disconnecting
the thing will not help, the latch up seems to be permanent,
at least for a couple of minutes. How can a TL084 do this??
Anyway, there's nothing better for LoFi ;->
They also made a 4 voice card, i think even with MIDI.
Someone I know uses an old AKAI 12bit machine, it has some
features that no other machine has, he manages to record
8 tracks, they start in unisono and after a while he
makes some of them slower (data entry wheel?),
this gives nice rotating effects when played by 8 speakers
in a circle.
I think these items should be on some flee markets in Germany.
Ebay?
Sometimes you need to go real cheap, this is cool,
using this old stuff for professional recording...
