And therein lies the pain and the joy...
Three weeks ago, I couldn't have told you what a resistor does, today I am
planning how to use an SN76477NF in a system that I downloaded from the net.
On my dining room table is a noise source built from old telephone parts.
I have added harmonic "thickness" to the output of a Casio VLtone, bought in
a flea market for 1 GBP.
There is nothing wrong with building a kit, but I agree with the comment
that it will only improve your soldering skills. The critical thing here is
that if you REALLY want to UNDERSTAND what you are doing, you really DO need
to experiment, find out what works and what doesn't and find out why.
