    X/Y mode is also good for checking the transfer function of circuits.  When
I am working with the DIODE shapers, I feed a triangle into the input, and clip
the X prob onto the input, and the Y probe onto the output.  You get a nice
display of the input versus output.

    This is just another really good reason to get a scope that can do X/Y.  My
digital scope at work, which cost about 15K, really sucks at this.  When I need
X/Y, I have to hunt down one of the cheap $300 20Mhz  "ANALOG" scopes to do this
job.  There are some things that analog still rules!
