just the other day I was reading MC2 (Music Computers Culture)
http://www.mc2mag.com/
well.. the article is in the magazine, I checked the website, and it's
not there...
it's a mag that I got at the local supermarket (grocer) Kinda like a
lame US version of Future Music.

anyhow, they had an article on LIVE PA sound.
Actually, the article was "Optimize Your Mixes for the Dance Floor"
(same Idea I'd imagine)
I'll type up some of the relevant parts...

Low End:
THe kick drum.... lives in the 40-100Hz range.. boosting those areas
will make the kick stand out (no really?) blah blah.. avoid affects
due to phasing problems when speakers are pointed at each other...
blah blah

Midrange:
too many midrange frequencies = "mud" especially when synths compete
with vocals...blah blah blah... thin out the tone of each competing
instrument
example.. brighten one synth by boosting mid-highrange [1-3kHz] and
roll off some midrange off another...

High End
A little 10-15 kHz goes a long way... club systems often boost the
high end and hi-hats, cymbals, etc come across loud and harsher than
in studio... one trick, listen to the mix at a very low volume, if the
hi-hats seem prominent at a low volume, it's probably too loud in the
mix

yeah, not too helpful, but maybe it is a little..

oh yeah, this is a test message to sdiy as well.
