[sdiy] Building a Modular- Paia vs. Blacet, others?

I have no experience with either....but, hold on a second:

I am expecting to take arrival of two Blacet EGs and his mixer/processor
this week. On paper, I am incredibly impressed with the functionality of
these modules. Anyone who has touched or even lusted over the Buchla
envelopes would find the Blacet EGs stimulating (Mark Verbos..are you
there?).

as far as the mixer/processor, I use modular stuff only for control
voltages, so its the processor part that peeked my interest in this
instance. Seems to be a close functional replica of Buchla/Serge units, a
very handy utility module for tweeks and producing complex voltage patterns
by combining several added sources, constant or otherwise. I read a remark
somewhere tha you don't realize how much to need a voltage processor until
you have one (very true).

I did buy a pattern generator kit from John about a billion yeas ago which I
used with my Serge and it was terrific. That was in 1981, something like
that. What impresses me endlessly with his offerings are their
affordability vs depth of functionality (dollars/doodads?) Plus, he shipped
my order the very same day I placed it.

It doesn't matter how cool something is, if it takes six months to get to
you, it becomes very cold. I think Blacet realizes this. He's handles this
transaction like a total pro.

So, obviously...I'm sold. And no, I am not on his payroll and rumors of a
BMR tatoo across my rear are not true.

hope this helps,

PG
