Hi Tim....DON'T PANIC....yet!
Everything is as it should be. If you look in the Midi Spec, this
behavior is documented. It seems it is up to the implementor if Note
OFF is used or Note On with velocity of zero is used. You also have to
watch out for Running Status, and also, you have to be aware of the fact
that a Midi Clock can occure anyplace, including in the middle of
another midi message...lots of fun going on in Thar!.
