Answer: no, and no. It would not be a tiny PCB, given
the size of two 44-pin PLCCs. Even without sockets,
were talking 2 square inches at least.

As for voltage levels, the Mostek 50240 was rated for
11-16V. The CPLDs are 5V devices. So you're looking at
level translators. The tiny board just even bigger.
