If you panel is to be hand machined then avoid plex/lex. There is much you
need to machine plex correctly, including the edges (it can cut you dearly).
You have read the many testimonials to this fact.
Again, i have to state that when done by craftsmen who work with it day in
and day out i have had nothing short of great results. None of my plex
outfitted projects where designed to go on the road, however.
Black plex shows finger oil and scratches, white or smoke is far more
forgiving. On the rack door i had fab'd the smoke attenuated the myriad of
LED's and displays making them very easy on the eye.
I used copper or aluminum sub-chassis to support the device pcb's and
controls as well as, to support the plex.
