[sdiy] Anything to square convertion idea - brilliant or incredibly stupid?

Interesting .. but why? You can make a squarer circuit
out of two transistors. To get the effect mentioned,
make the output open drain and tie an R to the
adjustable voltage source. 

In a more philosophical vein, the core of DIY (as I
see it) is individuality. If you think the best way is
to use a 4053, then by all means.  After all, the
first amendment guarantees freedom of religion  ;-)
Also there are those 2AM sessions where you just gotta
have a squarer circuit, and the only promising
candidate is a 4053. Been there, done that. I believe
a 12AX7 would mane a killer squaring circuit.

Remember, grasshopper: DIY is not a destination, but a
path leading forever onward. As you can plainly see by
the pile of unfinished projects on my bench.
