[sdiy] Good read

"Worse, designers often cut corners by skipping some important functions in
a module, like the absence of an FM pot, controlling the modulation index,
on a VCO or by not providing a much needed second envelope generator."
This comment is aimed specifically at the Wiard. In the Waveform City, there
was no panel space to put an attenuator on the linear FM input. However the
VCA in the module can be used for this purpose with added dynamic depth FM.
And each section of the Envelator can be used with the oscillator AR
envelopes to form two full ADSRs. This was too much of a compromise for
Andre.
I spent a great deal of time helping Andre build some custom synth modules
for his personal system. In exchange he promised to do technical writing for
the Wiard manuals.
After providing him with a full system, he then refused to honor his
promise, citing the above reasons as to why he could not write about it. The
system was returned after some time and then sent to Robert Rich who didn't
seem to feel these slight engineering compromises impaired it's musicality.
