Hi Caleb,

In case you can't find them, here's what I did with my black 1/4" patch cords:

At each end of the cable (right above the shell of the connector) I wrap
colored electrical tape... I have about 12 different colors.  Then over the
tape I used letter tags that wrap around the cable.  That way I get A->Z
for each of 12 colors.  These tags were made by Brady and can probably be
found at Mouser, etc

If you build your own cables, then you can put clear heat-shrink tubing
over the tape to keep it from ever peeling off. 

Admittidley it's easier to follow things when the entire cable is colored,
but I had hundreds of all-black cords and didn't want to spend the money to
replace them all.
