I would go ths Route, if possible. The small signal transistors (2N3702) are readily
available (at least in germany i had no problem in buying them). And if one of the
series regulator trannies has gobe bad, it should not be a problem to replace it with
another NPN germanium type, as they are inside the regulator´s feedback loop.
All others are standard passive components.
