Hi,
You already got a lot of info on that, let me just add
something about
panels. I use 3.5mm (1/8'') thick aluminium. If it's from
aluminium shop,
I paint it with appropriate primer, then my favourite
colour. If it's from
computer rack blank panels I only cut it - they are nicely
powder
coated. Then I take it to PCB shop to print silkscreen on it
because it's
cheap, 4-6 times cheaper than *real* silkscreen. Then I
drill the
holes - so any offset in silkscreen process doesn't matter.

I once made panels from brass (yes, me too ;) but it was too
hard to
solder, so I have only 4 modules done this way.

Excellent way for home made panels is to print it on a thick
paper,
paint with transparent acrylic, and glue to aluminium plate.
