[sdiy] buying resistors

Hi Tom,

Many suppliers sell multi-packs with many different values ...

e.g.
http://www.maplin.co.uk/products/Module.asp?VM=2163
http://www.maplin.co.uk/products/Module.asp?VM=2164

I started myself with the 2nd pack .. 10 of every value between 1R and 1M (133 values). I'm never short of the right value :)
These packs from Maplin are pretty cheap (~£0.0075 per resistor for the larger pack), and they're decent 1% metal film type.

Have a look at some local suppliers, you're sure to find such packs. When I run out of a value I tend to buy 50 since the price gets pretty cheap then (e.g. ~£0.01 each for 1% metal film)

IMO, always buy 1%! 5% are ok for a lot of things, but why bother having 2 types of resistor kicking around when the price difference is so small.

Seb
