[sdiy] German Speakers needed.

I have been down this road several years ago. I cannot remember the exact situation with the pins. But, I remember looking at mine and seeing that two of the pins were connect together on the PCB. You can double check the polarity by checking the voltage at the battery with the mixer turned on. That is what I did with mine. I had no choice since my original battery exploded like a electrolytic cap inside the unit one day (talk about a mess). I did not have the benefit of any old battery at all. Based on the fact that I had voltage without the battery, I assumed rechargeable. I found a 3 cell Ni-cad made for some kind of wireless phone that had flexible leads. I soldered that in few years ago and it had worked fine since.

As a side note, I have found that the SPM 8:2 has a heat problem. With the power supply inside the unit, the design did not allow for the heat to escape. The heat would manifest itself by providing erratic operation after use for a couple of hours in the rack. I had two of these mixers, and this problem existed with both. Once cool, it again worked fine. I added a very small fan for air in one direction and drilled a series of holes for the other direction so that air would move through the unit across the power supply region. In have not had any problems since.

  Hi all,

I am in need of a battery replacement for my simmons SPM 8:2 mixer, inside the battery has a little plastic cap that reads

  EMMERICH
            -
     NCM 3,6
      + +
  West Germany

I can gather that they mean 3.6V but what's NCM?

also, i think the three pin battery layout usually has ground with the two pins, and + with the one pin (like them battery holders from RS)

This lid seems to indicate otherwise.

any help or hits very much appreciated.

  merry merry,

  Eduardo
