Nice analogy, but not quite <nitpicking mode>What you hear from a modem 
speaker is the analog signal that's been produced by modulating data onto the 
carrier..MIDI is digital the whole way, though it would still probably make a 
noise since playing it through a speaker would be like bursts of square waves.
</nitpicking mode> still not something I'd really want to listen to for long 
periods of time. Naturally, this has nothing to do really with the discussion 
at hand, but whatever...
