[sdiy] video synth

I was introduced to analog synthesis via a home brew synthesizer designed by
Dan Sandin of the University of Illinois Chicago Circle. (circa 1978) He
made the plans publicly available and sold them basically for the cost of
xeroxing (tm) them. He still teaches at Circle and can be found on the web
at:

I became re-involved in synthesis a couple of years ago as a way to control
an x-y laser projector as part off an ongoing photography project. I
contacted Dan at the time, and while he encouraged me to either investigate
a digital solution, or go with an analog audio synthesizer, he did imply
that he would help if I found no other way. Who knows, he probably still has
schematics somewhere, though he seems to be a completely digital lifeform
these days.
I would be interested in knowing whatever you find out in this direction, as
I wouldn't mind pursuing something similar.
