Most of the static damage comes from components that are not installed
in circuit boards (or complete systems)...
The circuit enviroment provides comprehensive protection for the chips if
it was designed properly. This might include MOVs, limiting resistors and
capacitors..
etc.
What I'd like to know is why some distributors (in my example... Newark) used an
antistatic bag... inside a conductive box... inside another conductive box....
... to ship me eight toggle switches ! Maybe that's why my shipping and handling
fee was unusually high for the order ???
There is such a thing... as taking a good thing too far... ;^P
