Don't feel bad since:

--the audio out of a C64 is kinda noisy 

--the program, tho' very cool, has quirks which may or may not align 
themselves with what you wanted to do with a SID

--you need to have/find/make a MIDI interface

--and, if the top 3 don't deter you:  C64s still occasionally pop up in 
thrift stores etc.
