   Hi Merv,

   I use OrCAD, albiet version 7.  IMHO it is a great package and will 
let you do _a lot_ of neat things.  It has a much better library than 
other cheaper packages (you get what you pay for).

   Most of the parts you'll ever need are already included!  The only 
place you may have to tweak anything would be the footprints in Layout 
(although the standard footprints are fine in themselves).
   BTW, it is _very_ easy to make new parts/footprints!  Don't be afraid 
to dive in and try it out!
