and check out the data sheet for the LM1036 (35 also?)
A easy to setup DC (read VC) volume and balance control.
And National toss in VC treble & bass control for free <sound of wild
cheering crowd>
Don't have to go for external CV right away, just start with the standard
application.

There are plenty examples with this IC online.
Makes a good balanced (ring) modulator too, and (bad) rotary speaker
simulation, and auto pan, and wave shaper/distortion, and ...
Really this thing belongs in Amazing discoveries.
