On the subject of shocks (static):

It might be that it is not only the carpet, but also the chairs.
The gas cilinder of some chairs, and the fibers of the seats
can load you up.
If I use the wrong chair at my work, I get shocks all the time.
I got a shock free chair now.

Other suggestions:
How about a small metal plate on the sole of your shoe that
grounds your body all the time?
Or a metal spot in the chair through which you are grounded
as soon as you sit down?
Or a metal edge on your desk, to ground though the underarms?
All with a nice resistor...
Why ground at the wrist anyway?

Humidifiers are totally cool when you love plants. They grow wide!
Check out the ones that can make mist. Looks cool too.
The just pump cold water through a tiny membrane and then
blow the small waterdrops out.

about shocks, AC

Thanks,

though I'm not sure how I need to rework my power supply
like this. But I'll be looking into that.

I see.
I noticed the groundwire in the powercord is broken.
But that should still mean my power supply should shoot me.
Interestingly enough: if the scanner is off, There's still
64 AC on the socket!

:-) viva l'resistance.

I tried measuring over a 5k R, which still showed tens of volts.

I could earth it again, but I think that is a nasty sollution.
Guess I'll be learning a lot more on power supplies in
the coming days. (enough books out nah.)

Thanks again.

PS
I didn't feel the 50Hz overtones as much as 'normally'.
RC lowpass filter? (where C is in the powersupply and the R was me)

The hand still hurts, especially the ring finger.
