A tempco resistor is typically made out of platinum (or other metalls or
alloys), 
which has the property that its resistance raises linearly with temperature. 
(PTC = positive temperature coefficient)

A thermistor is made out of silicium which has the property that the
resistance 
falls exponentially with temperature. (NTC = negative temperature
coefficient.)
