kids,
thought I'd give you an update on the system I'm slapping together, plus a
link for you to see a photo:

this camera has a wide lens on it. It's a scant 26.5 inches wide.
short explanation:
This is where it lies now, awaiting my faceplates to come back from
imaging/drilling. What's missing is:
Top Row:
2 Blacet EGs, 2 Blacet Processors, 3 Buchla Low Pass Gates, Moog clone
filter, Homebrew Envelope Follower, H.B. AND/NAND gate, H.B.noise source,
H.B. dual voltage adder, H.B. voltage inverter, H.B. programmable pulse gen,
H.B. seqeuncer and output section of the sequencer on the bottom panel (the
Doepfer).
Second top Row:
4 Blacet osc, Blacet FIlter, Blacet Ring.
The rest of the stuff you see here is a combination of Doepfer, Analog
Systems and Analog Solutions. All of the knobs on the Doe, Analog Sol and
Homebrew stuff have been changed to the type Blacet and Analog Systems use,
basically because they are a great deal at Mouser and I prefer the soft
rubber.
The space to the left of the MAQ 3/16 was intentionally left blank at the
preset (future expansion) and yes, I am already stressing on what to put in
there. Some of it will be the MIDI to CV outputs. I'm thinking of a
flanger and a touch plate manual trigger or two.
The cabinet was home built and quite inexpensive. I went with the
Buchlidian curve, only because it puts everything at easy reach. It's made
out of 3/4 inch MDF. Those chassis boxes you see are made out of 16 g sheet
metal. That's what was recommended to assure good tapping of the threads
needed to hold the modules in. I'm thinking I should have gone with
alluminum extrusions instead and left the boards exposed to the back. With
nothing in it, it weighs a ton. Add the cxomponents, two tons. The upside
is I won't have to worry about theft unless there's an army of them!
The top strip, which is one rack unit in hieght will host a slew of mults,
two unity gain mixers and panel illumination lights. The bottom panel is
addmittedly a little tall, but I elected to do it this way because the
outputs for the D sequencer are on bottom and I wanted paltny of room for
clearence. I was contimplating mod'ding the box to get the outputs on the
top, but decided to keep it stock so I can sell it w/o explanation (file
under : never say never).
OK, give me a couple of weeks and I'll update with picture of the completed
beast.
Best,
Peter
