[sdiy] analogue guitar type controler thing

hey, I've been thinking about building a guitar style controler for live performance with my mc202, with a "fret board" up a kneck, and some buttons down on the body of the which would be like the strings... i.e. +0,+5,+10,+15 semi tones to the ones selected with the fret board... 
 
but I don't have much idea how to do this... I was thinking that touchswitches would be the simplest to construct, but how to get a gate signal? I was thinking it would also be good to have more touch switchs for triggering portamento and accent...
