I have always put them aside after this bad experience with
the 4-Voice circuit. Too unexpensive to send them back.
Now I might be able to use them all.

Maybe they have *once* sent me real 74HC4... chips, and I have
rejected the proper HCF chips ever since, when I read "ST" ?

But then again I also remember there was no "74" printed on
the "bad" ones, either. I could still have gotten damaged chips,
and read the wrong data sheet (HC) back then. Who knows.
