Yeah, I think you're right.  And sound really is important.  Not sure about the comparison to reaktor though - IMO this sounds really awful - something like the NORD modular is a little better, but I have enough (2) digital modelling synths in my studio already ;)

It's not going to be cheap though to allow maximum patching flexibility .. Inputs x Ouputs / 16 16-1 Mux chips are needed, and this doesn't even allow patching of outputs into multiple inputs.

I hope so too .. but don't hold your breath, the more I think about it, the bigger this project gets.
