Odp: [sdiy] Recommended books for PIC programming?

The best IMHO is any PIC datasheet - especially the chapter
"Instruction Set Summary". There are also examples in each 
chapter showing how to use every port, timer, ADC, EE etc.
Then you can learn by viewing other people's program, or
Microchip standard examples.

And programmer - make the cheap one. Development
tools are free, and all you need is simple programmer.
