[sdiy] Basic resistor question

I need some help in identifying resistor types.

It has been 25 years for me since building electronics circuits. Years
ago, all that was available was the carbon composite type resistor
(Barrel style). Having just come into a large supply of resistors (they
are separated and bagged by value and tolerance), I would like to know
if these are metal film or carbon film types. Is there any way to tell?
Is the color some indication (some are white and some are blue)? Most
are 1% tolerance. A few bags have Mouser numbers on them, so I should be
able to get information on these. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Scott
