The benefit of the doubt...

If the publisher has to spend an hour digging through
microfilm archives, then use some gear they haven't
fired up in fifteen years (that no one remembers how
to
use... or worse, they remember what a PITA it is...)
and they have to get any special media (pack of film
or something) and pay someone a couple hours to make
it happen...  $150 may be cheap

(i think its prohibitive ;^)
