Here's a message in today:
"Out shopping today for mags in W H Smiths, top shelf of course a priority
followed closely by the slimming mags and good food guides.
By pure chance I came across an article in Sound on Sound with some very
very interesting constructive references to Joe Meek."

Actually, Joe was a real DIY kind of guy, with a home-made LDR
compressor (driven by a bulb in the output of a small amp) and
a spring reverb made from an electric radiator!

He was mad as a hatter as well, but that is another tale..
