the polivoks (a russian synth) also has reed switches that are closed by
magnets on the bottom of the keys. the magnets are a little bit wider
than the reed switches, and come fairly close to the switch when making
contact. it works really nicely. one thing to be careful of is to make
sure that you mount the magnets securely! one of the magnets fell off
when my polivoks was shipped to me, and stuck to its neighbouring
magnet, meaning that there was always a note on!
