I think my main point is that if your input to be shifted is quadrature,
either from a fixed oscillator for zero FM purposes or a phase sequence
array for wideband shift effects purposes, you don't need that rather
difficult steep output filter.  Only one sideband is created to start with.

This distinguishes it just /slightly/ from the bog standard BFO solution.
