[sdiy] Synthacon filter notes...

Well, I've just successfully completed my synthacon filter (based on Ken's version of the Steiner circuit).
I had a little trouble with it, but the main problem was I had the PN2222s in backwards (doh!) Of course, this was because I pulled up the datasheet for the 2N2222, which has the reverse pinout.
I used a 1.5k pot for the resonance control, partly because I didn't have a 1k, but also, I wanted to go with a slightly higher value, so I could push it way past oscillation. A 2k would probably work well also.
But, I *must* say... what a VCF! so raspy & gritty... it's fantastic!
I have decided to include this as the 2nd VCF in my suitcase synth project. It should make a perfect compliment to the Moog style transistor ladder filter.
regards,
Mike
