Hi Ian!

>Nosing through my Digikey catalog I noticed that Zetex has some interesting
>high-gain, medium-power PNP devices. To check these out, I ordered 10 ea
>ZTX795A. Here are some of my characterization results. I will compare

An interesting device!

>Does anyone have a simple way to measure log conformance, without fancy lab

There is a circuit in the AD Datasheet for the MAT02. (Figure 18)
In essence a bridge of two log converters who are fed with sawtooth voltages
with a fixed ratio of amplitudes. The only fancy thing here is an
instrumentation amp. But they are easily obtainable.

Cheers,
 René
