As a manufacturer of products for the office market, i think specifically
about mis-connection based upon connection apparent visual "type".

It's easy to characterize someone plugging in a USB connector for a Ribbon
Controller into a PC as "stupid" when you imagine free and clear cabling.
But considered in an environment where cable wrap, twist and route all over
it's far more easy for even Einstein to mis-plug.

Let's be real, when push comes to shove, everybody is stupid enough
to make this happen. Be thankful that not every wrongly connected
wire leads to catastrophic results. If that was the case, there would
be a lot more synthesizers labeled as "rare". :-))
A momentary lapse of concentration is enough. After all, when you
pick up an end of cable lying on the floor or table, do you always
check what the other end is connected to? Even if something else
acquires your attention at the same time?

"It says so in the manual". Yeah, fabulous! Now tell me that all the
intelligent members of this illustrious forum, who come home with
their newly purchased treasure, will sit down first and carefully
read the warnings in the manual. Wooohaaa! :o)

A manufacturer who produces a piece of gear with a "dangerous"
connector, could at least attach an irremovable label to it. Period.

Quite offtopic my friend, but yes, you will. ;-)
