Jay,
I would be using a timer internal to the uP. It is
basically a 16-bit counter clocked at 2MHz. When the
input transitions the counter is latched and the
processor is sent an interrupt. With this clock I can
get approx. 2 cents resolution at A4.
If it turns out I need more resolution, I'll just hire
an intern and have him sell his soul... ;-)
