but, if you use digital oscillators (like the Monowave) :-)

Given the price and availability of cheap 16Bit DACs, it shouldn't be too
much of a problem.
They're also small..
If you want surface mount, the MAX5631 offers 32 channels of 16Bit DAC,
though its surface mount.
