   Cermet is a contraction for "Ceramic Metal".  Here is a short answer

   Personally, I prefer cermet over conductive plastic.  To me they 
have a better feel and I like the durability of the material 
(heat/moisture) better.  Since the rotational life for most cermets are 
equal to conductive plastic, you can really pick the type that you like 
the best.
