I would suggest the Volkswagon van--lots of room for large flat panels,
with thousands of knobs, or whatever control surface you decide upon. 

If you want something with more "character", then use the Volkswagon
"Thing". It's been a long time since I saw one of those. Converting a
"Thing" or VW Van into a self-propelled synth would probably guarantee you
eternal Synth-DIY fame.

I suspect that "Uncle Eric" might recommend a tube synth built into a
military Hum-Vee. You know, I'd kind of like to see that myself. 

Hmmm...  Now let's see, the tubes provide immunity to EMP attack, and the
Hum-Vee's Kevlar body armor provides protection from machine-gun fire (not
to mention rednecks throwing bottles at you during performances), and the
machine gun turret would be useful when...   

It's starting to sound a bit like a gangsta' rapper's synth-mobile, isn't
it.   :)
