The equipment in question has 768 blades in two rack towers.  Estimate
each blade is around $750-$1000, to cost of processors alone is about
$800,000.

But, what about DIY?  Say we aim for a 16-processor cluster.  How much can
you pick up a 1.8GHz mobo.  Remember, just need mobo, RAM, network card
(likely to be on mobo) and a relatively small HD for local storage.
Certainly within the realms of possibilities.
