About the cross sectional area of the tube...
I think that you want a small diameter tube... so that the waves must go
'down'
the tube, and not bounce side to side. Its obvious that low frequencies
will go
straight... but high frequencies could bounce. It will have to do with
'some' wavelength
of sound (in air)... but if its a full wave, 1/2 wave, 1/4 wave... who
knows. I'm thinking
it should be less than 1/2 wave in diameter at the highest frequency.
Also the line should probably be terminated in some acoustic dead
mass... so that there is
not reflections or standing waves....
