That is done so the Joystick shaft lights up.

Yep, that typical of Buchla modules. Since only 10-15 of the 219s were made,
there was no possibility of a board revision.

Paul, you seem to be missing the point. It's a colorful, intriguing musical
instrument, not a piece of sterile lab equipment. Who cares how perfect it
is? The Buchlas sure are a lot of fun, and fun is what music is all about.

You should try having fun some time, it's great!
